TRAFFIC SPEED SURVEY RESULTS – IRSTEAD ROAD – JUNE 2026

8a Traffic Analysis Report

During June 2026, Neatishead Parish Council carried out a traffic speed survey on Irstead Road to help us better understand vehicle speeds and traffic volumes within the village.  Here are some of the key findings:

  • 5,767 vehicles were recorded during the survey period.
  • Average speed was 21.9mph.
  • 85th percentile speed: 27.6mph (meaning 85% of vehicles were travelling at or below this speed, which is below the 30mph limit).
  • Highest vehicle recorded speed: 45mph.

The survey also showed that only around 3-5% of vehicles exceeded the 30mph speed limit, meaning the vast majority of drivers were travelling responsibly.  While the recorded speed of 45mph is concerning, it was an isolated occurrence rather than typical  of traffic using the road.

The Parish Council will continue to monitor traffic data and work with the relevant authorities to help keep our roads as safe as possible.
